Just testing my new 4GB memory chip, Gorillapod , and wireless remote. Bad news on the memory chip: thought the D80 is compatible with HCSD , the Dell laptop isn't. So I have to use the cable for picture transfers until I get an adapter. Bad news on the Gorillapod: the D80 with kit lens is just (58g) overweight according to specs, so it can get a bit "droopy" in a normal tripod stance. But it works like magic for attaching to odd places like banisters. UPDATE: drooping cured by turning locking ring. The small print "Important: Before using this product, please read the instructions printed on the inside of this card." actually means there is some useful stuff written on the inside.

No time to breathe?

I should stop thinking that "now I'm busier than I've ever been" -- as soon as I do that, more stuff gets piled on. No time to breathe, let alone write blog entries. Luckily help is at hand at Centellino . For the past 6 months we've been force-breathing our wine this way for the dinner-time sip that's become as routine as the supplements at breakfast--adding insult to what is already probably an injury to the feelings of the wine gods. I just hope treating wine like fast food is not a mortal sin: (I don't see haste in that list). I would prefer to use my quota on the more pleasurable ones, such as this coincidentally "top marks for value" item, which I actually bought purely for the bird on the label. Why does 7/Z look so much like a script L--coincidence? Or is there a vino particle connecting everything in a hidden dimension?

The big TO -- been there, done...

almost nothing of what I would want to. Scratched the surface, but not the real itch. Got to a food market, the St Lawrence , but then discovered that there is another one, the Kensington , which would be near the spice shops someone told me about. Found a Lebanese restaurant, Tabule , but also learned that TO is not a destination for Middle Eastern food (as I had assumed from my good experiences in Ottawa and Montreal) and I just lucked out with finding Tabule. Learned the PATH like a good rat, but also walked to work at street level on the last day just to savour -20C again (or rather to revel in the idea that I don't have to do it regularly). OK I was supposed to be working, not catching up on my shameful lack of knowledge about the centre of the Canadian universe, and no-one can fault me for not trying. AGO : did go; ROM : sadly no. Felt queasy on the glass floor in the CN Tower , strangely more so when moving (shuffling) than standing still. I'm sure I could get used to ...
