My Christmas gift to myself has been installed and is working like a dream.
This is a gadget I highly recommend for anyone* with a music collection, even if serious about sound quality: http://www.slimdevices.com/ And I'm talking about the cheaper ($300) device, not the $2k one. Now I can sit and pick my music from my laptop. As WMA lossless--i.e. the original CD data. Nerd and audiophile heaven all in one. Our entire CD collection at my fingertips, searchable, capable of being programmed in playlists. Working smoothly in spite of the fact that I'm using two wireless network hops, which the documentation says may not work--I guess that was written a couple of years ago.
*To clarify "anyone": the device must be installed by someone who can install software and devices on a wireless network; after that, using it is easier than using a boombox with a CD changer.
